Get Help In Person and Online
I offer online therapy in California and Arizona, making it easy to help your relationship manage conflict and find connection.
For clients who prefer to meet face-to-face, I offer in person therapy at my office in Encinitas, California. Encinitas is a great place to visit, relax and enjoy local restaurants, beaches and coffee shops before or after appointments. Many people will come early or stay late in the area to decompress after sessions.
The office is conveniently located just off I-5, making it easily accessible from both north and south. If you’re coming from Claremont, La Jolla, Rancho San Diego, Carmel Valley, Del Mar, Solana Beach, or Cardiff, you’ll find us just a short drive south. For those traveling from Carlsbad, Oceanside, Bressi Ranch, Vista, or Rancho Bernardo, the office is typically within a 20-minute drive.
In Person Therapy in Encinitas
My office in Encinitas is a welcoming space where couples and individuals can step away from life’s stressors and focus fully on their relationship. While many of the people I see live in Encinitas, I also work with clients from Carlsbad, San Diego, and throughout North County.
Marathon Therapy in Encinitas
San Diego is a beautiful place to do deeper personal and relationship work – and the reliable sunshine is also therapeutic! Along with regular sessions, I also offer Marathon Weekend Intensives, a retreat-style format that gives couples concentrated time together to make meaningful progress in just a few days.
Online Therapy in California & Arizona
Meeting virtually allows you to connect from the comfort of your own space while still receiving the same focused, research-based support. I regularly work with couples and individuals throughout California and Arizona who are looking to strengthen their relationships through Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I also provide individual counseling for those wanting to understand the tangible ways that they avoid their emotions and hold themselves back from health, personal growth, and gain clarity in their relationships.
Therapy That Meets You Where You Are
Whether you’re coming in for a session in Encinitas, joining virtually from Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or or somewhere in between, the most important piece is finding a therapist who feels like the right fit. My goal is to create a supportive and structured space where you can work on your relationship with intention.
FAQ
How does telehealth work in California and Arizona?
Meeting virtually can allow you to be inside the state of California or Arizona. If you are somewhere I am unfamiliar with, I will ask some safety coordination questions so that we can have a safe session online. I take safety in virtual therapy seriously, so I will ask about an address, location or car identification in the event of an emergency, I can get help to you.
Is telehealth available to couples as well as individuals?
Yes, I am happy to meet with couples online so long as you are in the same phyiscal location when you call me together. It’s really hard to do virtual therapy when the screen looks like the Brady Bunch for me and for you. The Gottman Method works great in online sessions since I can share screen and resources directly through Zoom with you.
Individual therapy online is a very easy, accessible and comparable way to get psychological care. Many times, online sessions can enable better care since the barrier to getting into the office is removed. Just like in real life sessions, you will need to have a quiet, secure comfortable place to talk to me, but this is often able to be squeezed in on lunch breaks, before/after work or during nap times.
Is online therapy effective?
The leading research suggests that people who are wanting in person appointments, but settle for online appointments, are less likely to have positive experiecnes. People who want online, or are ok with online therapy sessions, are going to have great outcomes. So my advice here is to pay attention to what you want personally and advocate for that application of therapy.
Therapy is just as effective online as it is in person, so I wouldn’t stray away from online sessions, or wait longer than necessary to meet in person. Oftentimes, I have seen people be adamant about in person sessions, and then transition to online and never come back to the office for in person sessions once the relationship is established.
I also have written a blog on how to get the most out of an online session here.
How far is your Encinitas office from Carlsbad or San Diego?
My office in Encinitas is within 10 minutes of Carlsbad. The office is conveniently located off the I-5 and is coastal, north Encinitas. People flying in from McClellan-Palomar Airport should plan for an hour after they land to be able to get their belongings and meet me in the office.
Coming north from San Diego will take 20 minutes depending on the time of day. People who are flying in from San Diego International Airport should plan about 90 minutes after they land to be able to get their belongings and meet me in the office.
Can local couples do a Marathon Intensive, or is it just for those traveling from out of state?
Locals are always welcome. Regardless of where you’re coming from, marathon therapy is a focused weekend to heal the past, make clear decisions and have a plan of how to move forward. Some couples do not live in San Diego and will come from surrounding cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco or Phoenix.
